JUNIOR TAEKWONDO 7+ YEARS

The road to becoming a Black Belt can be a hard one, and a long one, so we feel it is important to develop and challenge our students in different ways in each step of their journey to keep them motivated as they improve.

OUR JUNIOR TAEKWONDO PROGRAM IS DIVIDED INTO 3 CLASS TYPES:

BEGINNER TAEKWONDO

The basics - over your time in the beginner program you will learn and master the first 6 kicking techniques, the first three poomsae, basic boxing combinations and boxing defense. You will also learn basic arm and wrist locks and how to apply these to “front on” attacks.

We will cover basic stances and sparring movements such as side step and inch out countering.

Most importantly, you will learn how to train. This includes how to set goals and achieve them. You will become accustomed to the traditions of the dojang, and the discpline and consistency required to earn belts and move forward in the program.

Intermediate Taekwondo

This is a big jump up in the level of intensity and commitment for you. At Blue Belt, you will begin to learn much more advanced kicking: such as spinning techniques and the Poomsae at this level are also much harder and require much more practise than the earlier ones.

Your boxing skills will continue to develop and you will start to learn more significant self-defense escapes such as back and bear hug grab.

This is also the level at which you will start light sparring and will be required to bring to class sparring equipment at all times.

Advanced Taekwondo

By now you are a senior member of the club and have earned the right to wear a Black Dobok and attend the advanced classes. The goal of Black Belt is clearly in sight and 100% effort is required at all times. There is an increased level of skill and intensity required in every area, thus an extra level of commitment and dedication is also required.

Students now must break wooden boards, be well versed in Korean terminology, begin to learn the history of Taekwondo and be living examples of it’s philosophy - dedication, perseverance, self control and indomitable spirit.
